We want to hear from you! If you have any information you would like to share with fellow Monroe Alumni, please contact the Monroe Foundation office. The best way is with e-mail: development@catholic-schools.org, or call (907) 456-7970.

Laura (Doogan) Reeping '88 and her husband, Donald, are expecting baby number five in late August. They live in Nampa, Idaho. Their oldest children attend St. Paul's Catholic School where Laura also serves as President of the School Board. The Reepings will be in Fairbanks the weekend of the Pig Roast. Laura says she hopes to see many of her classmates there. Her e-mail address is festus@cableone.net.

Jessica Hinojosa '05 attends Chaminade University of Honolulu and wishes to share some exciting news. She has recently become engaged! Jessica says her intended is Mathew Taylor from Portland. He is a fellow student at Chaminade. Congratulations Jessica and Mathew!

Diane (Clement) O'Neal '66 received the 2007 Teacher of the Year award from Port St. Joe Middle School in Florida. Diane teaches Intensive Reading to 6th, 7th and 8th graders at the school. The award Diane received was voted on by her fellow teachers. Diane and her husband, Mike, live in St. Joe Beach, Florida. Congratulations on the award, Diane!

Kevin O'Leary '87 underwent spinal surgery last fall to repair a herniated lumbar disc. He has recovered nicely with the help of brother, Bill '83, “a long-acknowledged vertebrate himself!”

Mike Doebler '84 has been living in Reno, NV since leaving Fairbanks five years ago to work as a pilot for Southwest Airlines. Micheal says it has been a big change adjusting to life “down south” but he's enjoyed the experiences, especially meeting his wife Samantha (they married in January). The Doeblers are busy renovating their house, but Mike still has time to enjoy his new hobby of riding horses. He has even ridden competitively in a few horse shows and considers it a success if both he and his horse finish together. Mike has provided his contact information to the Monroe Foundation office. If anyone would like to get in contact with him, please give the office a call.

Krista (Hughes) Stamper '88 and husband, Jim, have had a busy winter. Krista was the choreographer for FLOT's The Sound of Music in November. Krista and Jim also moved into a new home on 11th Avenue. They've been busy updating the décor from 70's and 80's to something a bit more modern. Anyone need a harvest gold oven?

Ashley Gavin '01 is currently in her first year of medical school at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA. She recently was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and is on a Health Professionals Scholarship Program. If that isn't busy enough, Ashley is also training for the San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon in June. She is training with former classmate, Jennifer Morgan '01, via e-mails and phone calls. Ashley wants everyone to know her sister, Lindsay '99 married husband, Joseph Wingerter, last June. Congratulations Lindsay, and good luck to Ashley and Jennifer on the big race!

Have you ever wondered what happened to the Cooper Children?
by Bev Fantazzi (the Cooper kids' cross country running coach).

The kids would be Bill and Doris Cooper's children, Will '90, Molly '92 and Ellie '93.

Mr. Cooper is extremely elated that Will is no longer a student; he has acquired a job. Will graduated from Harvard in 1994 and spent two years as a Jesuit Volunteer in Portland, Maine and Newark, New Jersey. Will was a Fulbright Scholar in Israel for two years. He then went to Oxford, to finish his Doctorate in Theology. In 2006 Harvard University hired Will as the Assistant Dean of Freshmen.

Molly surprised us all last year and got married on June 21, 2006, to Gregory Chastain and they are expecting their first child in late May 2007. Molly graduated from College of St. Benedict in 1996. She joined the Peace Corp in 1997 to 1999 and was in Thailand. She has been teaching and is still running (although pregnancy has reduced her to walking these days!) Molly and Gregory live in Minneapolis.

Ellie graduated from Providence College in 1997. She joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corp in Minneapolis for a year then moved to Chicago. Since moving to the Windy City, she has enjoyed traveling the U.S. and occasionally the globe as a meeting planner for SmithBucklin Corporation. Ellie married Jim Hurley in July of 2004. Ellie and Jim are expecting their first child in early September, 2007.
