When Ignatius began his ministry he required that those who follow in his footsteps develop within themselves a spirit of adaptability. Many would call this the “Ignatian Adaptability,” a quality that is imperative in those educated through the charism of St. Ignatius. I have chosen Sonia Marticorena for student of the week because I have seen in her this spirit of “Ignatian adaptability.” In addition, she has excelled in demonstrating her commitment to being open to growth through consistently putting her best forward and striving to be her best self. Sonia has shown her commitment to justice and love through her selfless actions and concerns for her classmates and learning communities. Sonia’s determination to do her best has been an indication ofgood self-reflection, which is a requirement to being religious. Sonia’s self-reflection can be seen in the thorough and accurate work she has turned in and the interactions she has with her peers and teachers.
