Students of the Week

10/24/2016

Comments

These three students have gone above and beyond in their efforts and kindness during my first period art class. They have always been there for their fellow classmates lending a helping hand as well as making everyone feel included. They have taken a leadership role in the table-making process despite their own lack of initial confidence. They are all three quick learners and picked up on the fact that others needed their help. I appreciate this trait in their personalities and it is a trait that will be helpful throughout life.   Ms. Kryzmowski

Scott Jacobs is a senior and a member of the Academic Decathlon team here at Monroe. He is a hard worker in his classes and on occasion, takes his learning a step further by going “above and beyond” the required assignment. Outside of the classroom, Scott participates in AcaDeca and brings an element of humor to the team and practices. He tries to make sure that everyone doesn’t take things too seriously, while still adding to the overall goal of learning the material. Scott is an avid volunteer in the community as well, service hours aside, volunteering with younger grades and Joel’s Place. Scott is a good example of being open to growth, intellectually competent, and committed to doing justice!     Ms. Jones

Lauren White possesses a sense of maturity and grace beyond her years. Although she is only an 8th grader, she already demonstrates significant development in the Jesuit pillars. She is a joy to have in the classroom, as she always maintains a positive attitude. What impresses me the most is her desire to exceed expectations. She works hard to produce work quality that is second to none.     Mrs. Lyles

Makeala Atkins is my student of the week. I have had the privilege of teaching Makeala since the 4th grade. She has been a clarinetist in both the ICS and Monroe bands, where her lively, sparkling personality has helped to make each rehearsal a more enjoyable experience. When I think of Makeala, I think of enthusiasm, resilience in the face of adversity, humor, Taekwando, barbecue, pencil drawings, and kindness. She is a multi-talented young lady with enough energy to fill the school.  This is her last week with us and I plan to treasure each moment. Good luck! We will all miss you.    Mr. Hudson
