Covid MASKING SHIFT 2022

2/23/2022

Catholic Schools of Fairbanks
COVID-19 Mitigation and Response Protocols
**Effective February 23rd, 2022**
CSF Administration believes that mapping a flexible approach to masking acknowledges that we are close to reaching a unique point in the COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud of our success in providing two years of in-person education during an uncertain time in history.
Our decisions have been, and continue to be, rooted in current data, mindful of K-12 health recommendations, and highly aware of COVID transmissions and disease severity locally (including stable hospital capacity).
Based on the ongoing and reasonable consideration of these areas, effective February 23rd, CSF mitigation will shift in the following ways:
  1. Effective Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022, masking will be OPTIONAL for students, staff and visitors at Catholic Schools of Fairbanks.
  2. For staff and students who wish to continue wearing masks, CSF Administration, in consultation with the State of Alaska Section of Epidemiology and local experts, strongly recommends the use of 3-layer disposable medical masks, N95 masks or KN95 masks as an effective tool to reduce the risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.  The school will continue to provide disposable medical masks in classrooms and at all entrances to the building. N95 masks, Face shields and KN95 masks are available upon request.
  3. The following layered mitigation practices will stay in place until further notice:
    • HEPA Air Filters will be operational in all classrooms
    • Regular hand washing and sanitizing
    • Social distancing when possible
    • Testing symptomatic students, staff and family members, and offering asymptomatic testing to those who request it
Please refer to FAQs for further details related to testing.
Thank you for your continued support of our mission, our schools, and most especially - our students.

Director
