This year’s HIPOW was great fun and a fund-raising success. Saturday’s dinner sold out and Fund-the-Vision broke a record. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the schools–by attending, bidding online, donating to the event, or volunteering.
Th 2018 HIPOW co-chairs were Dave and Patti Burglin and Andrea and Roger McGill. They put a lot of energy into making sure guests enjoyed the two-night event. In fact, Andrea and Patti even taught our fifth graders a line dance to perform on Friday night. It was a riot! To quote one of this year’s Saturday attendees, “At HIPOW, you can actually feel the love in the room.” It’s true. HIPOW is a very warm community event. While it’s about raising money for the schools, it’s also about bringing people together–current parents, past parents, alumni, and friends. We look forward to next year when we’ll celebrate the 50th Annual HIPOW on October 11 & 12. Something tells me there will be lots of balloons, gold, and merriment to be had. Historical Notes: ICS opened its doors in September 1946. Monroe celebrated its 60th graduation in May of this year. The first HIPOW was held in 1970. HIPOW was the brainchild of Fr. McGuigan, who had visited Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma and modeled HIPOW after their annual fund-raiser, the PRIDE Gala. The first HIPOW chairpersons were Mike and Matilda Stepovich, parents of this year’s co-chair Andrea Stepovich McGill. |
