![]() First of all, I’d like to thank the Monroe student body for making it difficult to narrow down my selections to just ONE student! It makes me proud that there are so many worthy choices for ‘Student of the Week’, and all for different reasons. Drum roll, please..... My final choice, is one of my original front runners, Grace Batts. Grace is a junior and new to Monroe this year. While often quiet, (though don’t mistake that quietness for shyness) Grace has a sound confidence about her that gives me the impression she will surely reach any goal she sets for herself. Though she’s only been with us a few short months, Grace makes an effort to connect with her classmates and is clearly already a part of the Monroe family. Grace is a hard worker, in school and out of school. She often helps with her family’s business, and you might even find her working at the farmers market during warmer months. Out of the five Jesuit pillars, I’d say the one that most reminds me of Grace at this point in her high school career is ‘Open to Growth’. Not only has she stepped into unfamiliar territory and started her junior year of high school as a new student, she’s also stepping onto the basketball court as a Lady Ram this season. I am glad you’re at Monroe, Grace! We are lucky to have you, welcome, and keep up the good work! Mrs. Leslie Assistant Librarian |
