What are those strange sounds coming from the band room? Does the school have a foghorn? Have whales migrated to Fairbanks? Those lovely sounds are coming from Pearson Clark and Jake Footit, my students of the week. Pearson and Jake volunteered to learn how to play euphonium in band, when we desperately needed some bass instruments and fewer percussionists in the group. They have always demonstrated a willingness to try something new throughout their musical careers in ICS and Monroe, and demonstrated quite a bit of courage by taking on this task. Both of them have worked diligently to improve and are progressing rapidly, performing well during rehearsals and on playing tests. Their efforts have helped the band sound better.
