Coach David Obermeyer
Coach Obermeyer began coaching volleyball at Monroe in 2008. He coached 8th grade and Junior Varsity before taking on the role of Head Coach in 2013. In 4 seasons, the Rams have been 75 - 25 with 2 Aurora Conference Championships, 2014 and 2015 Runner-up in the Alaska State Championships.
Obermeyer played volleyball for fun while serving in the Army. He retired from the service after 22 years and began coaching basketball in 2002. When asked if he'd like to coach volleyball, he jumped at the chance. "I really enjoy the sport," he says. "A volleyball team cannot rely on one player; everyone must work together." Obermeyer also coaches a 14s club team under the Arctic Volleyball Club and holds certifications for NFHS and IMPACT under USA Volleyball. His four children graduated from Monroe Catholic High School (Cory '05, Christopher '07, Demi '12, Mia '13). |
