Item Donations

Items can be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Monroe Foundation office located at 718 Betty Street.

What we can accept
We happily accept the following new or gently used items:
  • Gift certificates for food - restaurants or specialty grocery stores
  • Home improvement items - drills, chainsaws, ladders, etc.
  • Unique experiences - get creative; this could include yoga or dance classes, overnight lodging, movies, etc.
  • Wine - gift certificates or in-hand
  • Landscaping/outdoor stuff - gift certificates, gardening supplies
  • Parties for kids or adults - birthday parties, girls nights, etc.
  • Housewares - lamps, small appliances, dishes
  • Collectibles
  • Gold and silver 
  • Art
  • Furniture (new and antique) - dressers, benches, chairs, couches, tables
  • Jewelry
  • Clothing, shoes and boots (new only)
  • Vehicles (used vehicles must be appraised beforehand)
  • Hats, gloves, mittens, scarves (new only)
  • Furs 
What we cannot accept
It's tough to say "no thank you" to donations, but sometimes we have to. Generally, we turn down a donation simply because the cost to refurbish, repair, store or transport the item would be more than the item could be sold for at auction.
We cannot accept the following items:
  • Used furniture (makes a great donation for our Super Sale in September, but difficult to sell at auction. To donate to our Super Sale, bring item on the day of the Super Sale).
  • Used appliances including refrigerators, microwaves, air conditioners, trash compactors, water heaters, boilers, etc.
  • Used clothing of any kind
  • Used electronics of any kind (TVs, stereos, speakers, video tapes, DVDs, computers)
  • Old books/magazines (unless they are collectibles)
  • Used bicycles (unless they are in excellent condition) 
  • Junker cars
